The Drake University School of Journalism and Mass Communication was founded in 1919, so this year is their centennial. I began working with the dean of the school in the winter of 2018 to develop a new identity for the school that could be used with all promotional material for centennial events being held in 2019. This was an especially challenging design, considering I had to jump through many hoops to make sure I didn’t step on the toes of anyone in the marketing department at the university. I settled on a simple design that is a nod to a previous SJMC campaign titled, Your Story Starts Here. The JMC is intentionally left as an outline because, while you are starting in the school, the path you take within it is yours to fill in.
