Kourts for Kellen is a basketball court renovation project in Logan, Iowa, my hometown. The project will be funded, in part, by the Kellen Morrison Foundation and will be in memory of Kellen, a young boy who passed away after a six-month battle with Burkitt’s lymphoma in 2015. Kellen was known for his love of basketball, and when the foundation learned that the town was ready to renovate the basketball court at the city park, they took the opportunity to pitch in and honor Kellen’s memory. I was incredibly honored when I was asked to design a logo to promote the project and help with the beginning steps of making this dream a reality. The court will be finished in the spring of 2018, and I will add pictures of the logo in use on the court.
The logo utilizes the two K‘s to imitate the seams on a basketball and is enclosed in a circle to accentuate the shape. The lime green symbolizes the ribbon color for lymphoma and the purple is Logan’s “town color.”
